Filling and packaging

Filling and packaging

After roasting, the coffee needs to degas. The greatest enemy of freshly ground coffee is oxygen. If the bag is not properly closed, the coffee loses its freshness and aroma. Inflated coffee bag in the shelves of the store is a sign that the coffee has been packed without previous degassing, which means that it wasn’t left long enough to degas. Filling and packaging processes are, therefore, an important part of the production process.

Introducing vacuum packaging resolved a lot of issues regarding the storage of coffee. When coffee is loaded in a bag, the air is extracted by machine and a vacuum atmosphere is produced, hindering the oxidation process. Coffee packed in this manner can be safely stored for the period of 12 months without undergoing a change in quality. A modified atmosphere packaging method creates a modified atmosphere in a package. The oxygen is substituted by nitrogen, an inert gas that inhibits the oxidation process and creates the impression of airiness. Easy Open system enabled easy opening without tearing the package and spilling its contents.

The latest innovation – Zip Pak enables easy opening of the coffee bag and undisturbed storing of coffee in its original package.
